Galle - Day 2

Saturday 19/03/16

The troop of Grey Langar monkeys woke us at 5 this morning along with the chattering chipmunks!!

We had a leisurely breakfast and headed out late morning for a wander into the new town. It was hot and dusty and quite noisy as the path runs along the side of the main road with the ocean on the other side but it was nice to see the fort from outside the ramparts and also we saw the local fisherman selling their catch at the local fish market.

We returned the same way and found a great place to stop in the Dutch hospital building. The place is called A Minute by Tuk Tuk and has great views of the bay. We had a refreshing watermelon juice and got to see three large turtles feeding on the rocks which was a lovely bonus!

We went back to Mango House for a rest and the we went out again after a freshen up to browse the local shops. There were some lovely things but nothing that we wanted to buy. It was good to browse though until supper time when we returned to the lighthouse and watched the sunset.

Afterwards, we went to a lovely restaurant again in the Dutch hospital where we had yellow fin tuna in a garlic sauce and a glass of chilled white wine! Scrummy.
