Bentota Part 1

Monday 21/03/16

We both slept wonderfully in the four poster bed in the guest room and woke well rested.
Breakfast yet again was delicious. Freshly baked breads, home made jams, fruit platter, fruit juice, filter coffee all helped kick start the day.
Our driver arrived at 11 and we said our goodbyes before making our way along the coast to Bentota (a small coastal  town which also sits on the river and lagoon). Our accommodation was a tad disappointing but our room and the balcony was huge. We were only paying £30 a night and we were getting a very good deal for the money but we decided we would only stay the one night. We ventured out and it was very hot and very busy in town as it was market day. Very colourful though and interesting to see. After a little explore we stopped at a riverside cafe and enjoyed the view and a couple of beers which turned into dinner of rice and curry and another few beers!
After a little online research we found a houseboat which is moored on the banks of the Bentota river and offers a  unique accommodation option together with meals and a cruise of the river. As it was Della's birthday we decided to spend the following night on board and take the cruise on the morning of her birthday!
