We were lucky to be staying in a guest house where our room looked out over paddy fields and was pleasantly rural.
Nearby is the rice museum and on our last day we visited and learned plenty about not only the process of cultivating and growing rice but also the history of rice growing and it's place in the diet of Malaysians.
