May Madness!

May itself was a busy month for us. We started out in early May spending a long weekend with prospective clients in the South of France - sunshine and warm temperatures led us into a false sense of summer as upon our return to Blighty we had to fish back out our vests and waterproofs!! As nan used to say, "never cast a clout until May is out!"

Our week back in the UK was supposed to be full opportunities to meet up with family and friends but as we both came down with a nasty bug unfortunately, instead of sipping champers and catching up on all the news we were swallowing Strepsils by the dozen and catching up on sleep!

It is rare for us to be ill but for us both to be poorly at the same time is unheard of! The coughs and cold lasted well into a second week and during the flight back to France and our assignment in Carcassonne, poor Della suffered really painful sinuses which had her in tears.

It was great to be back in Carcassonne with a familiar family of pets to look after but the weather was more like March than May with gale force winds and torrential rain!! Back home meanwhile the temperatures were hitting the high 20s and it seemed as if summer had eventually arrived.

Our second week arrived and so did the sun! Fully recovered from our bouts of sneezing and coughing and with warmer, sunnier days we both felt much brighter. Looking forward to meals al fresco and long, lighter evenings - bring it on!
