Kennet & Avon Canal

After the excitement of a week of summer-like weather our return to the UK plunged us straight back into almost Autumnal weather conditions! It really is set to be a mixed bag this year! By the way, we make no apology for frequently mentioning the weather. After all we are British and it's in our make up to regularly comment to both friends and strangers alike upon the weather, the vagaries in particular of the weather here in the UK!!

Anyhow, despite the dismal and unseasonally cool temperatures there were a few odd days in early June where we could get out and about. Taking advantage of a fine weekend, we headed for the Kennet & Avon canal - the stretch near to our base began at Pewsey Wharf. There were quite a few barges and canal boats on the water and some sweet ducklings, signets and even young Canadian Geese nestled into the riverbank.

We followed the tow path in the direction of Wilton and then took a footpath on a circular route in the Vale of Pewsey and back to our base in Pewsey. It was so nice just to get some fresh air and stretch our legs.
