Melaka - Day 3

On our third day in town we headed out to another quirky cafe for breakfast. The Daily Fix had all sorts of Western and Asian options available and we opted for banana pancakes with honey, fresh juice and coffee. As with most Western options it came at a hefty price (compared to local options), but it was worth the extra pennies and certainly an improvement on our "toast" the day before!

Satisfied we made our way to the historic port gate and fort ruins, taking in St Paul's Church, the Stadthys and the Sultanate Palace. There was a distinct European feel here especially the Dutch and Portugese influence.

It was a very warm and humid day so our sight seeing was curtailed early and we headed back to our room to cool off and have a mini siesta! Later, refreshed and relaxed we went out for a wander along the river as far as the Malay village of Kampung Merton

and afterwards for supper at a lovely vegetarian friendly restaurant called The Geographer. We enjoyed a delicious meal of vegetarian Laska and vegetarian spring rolls.
