Of all the Mayan ruins on the Yucatan Peninsula, Chichen Itza is the most well known. So much so that it is a good idea to arrive early to beat the coach loads of tourists. Lucky for us we arrived just after 8am and had the place practically to ourselves for a couple of hours. As the sun rose there was a fantastic sense of being somewhere truly magical. It was a visit that we will never forget and we are glad that we saved this one until last.......
