Melbourne and southwards....

We had such a fantastic trip that to choose any one thing, experience, sight, event is incredibly difficult. That said, hiring a camper (a long held dream of ours!), and driving from Melbourne to Adelaide along the Great Ocean Road was a very special highlight of our holiday.
The MCG, Melbourne

We flew into Melbourne and stayed overnight in a local B & B. Luckily for us, we were able to meet up with friends who have just relocated back to Australia from Singapore and to be able to spend time, albeit only a few hours. We enjoyed a lovely meal, some good wine and it was just great to have the chance to catch up in person.

We only had a few hours in Melbourne the next morning so we had a whirlwind tour of the city. We thought Melbourne had a good vibe and we would love to go back one day and stay for long enough to explore properly!

We collected our camper in the afternoon and set off for our first overnight stay which was near Geelong, only an hour or so from Melbourne. The drive was trouble-free and the campsite was just perfect. We didn't know what to expect of the campsites so we went with the Big 4 organisation which has numerous campsites throughout Australia and all of a similar ilk. We were very happy with our choice and celebrated our first night eating our supper al fresco and drinking beers from our plastic mugs!!
