Ek Balam

Mayan ruins are everywhere in Mexico but, they are all unique. This was a revelation to us and one which made our visits to each different ruin site all the more enjoyable.

We visited Tulum and Coba on the east coast, each of these sites offered a different setting, Tulum on the coast and Coba deep in the jungle.

We had already decided that we would visit one other Mayan ruin site ahead of the main event at Chichen Itza. 

Ek Balam was our third and penultimate Mayan ruin and we loved it! 

Small but beautiful, in a stunning jungle setting Ek Balam provided us with an altogether much more intimate experience.
