Week 2 in Western Australia

Our second week in WA started with a visit to the home of some good friends who emigrated to Perth 5 years ago. We had not seen them for over 6 years so it was a real bonus to have the opportunity to visit them. We spent a glorious day at their beautiful home in the country. We were well fed and watered and spent the day catching up on all the news. Our lovely day ended with the kids playing guitar and singing for us as we sat under the stars......priceless. We stayed the night at our friends place and headed off early to the Nambung National Park, home to the famous Pinnacles Desert where huge limestone pillars rise from the shifting yellow sands. The drive took us along the Indian Ocean Road and took about 2 hours. We passed through bush, open plains, huge white sand dunes, saw wild emus and had panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. The Pinnacles were not a disappointment. It was far too hot to take the circuit walk but we did take the scenic drive and tons of photos!
